About

Philosophy

Food is one of the easiest ways to connect with people, offering an immediate shared experience. Dinner with Friends was founded on the idea that food is best when it’s shared and paired with great people & conversation.

Dinner with Friends is an informal, fun, & easy-going place to meet new and old friends over a delicious home-cooked meal and even better company.

The menus are inspired by the people we meet and places we’ve been. We’re not professional chefs - just passionate amateurs who are excited to try interesting flavors and foods from around the world.

What to Expect

Dinner with Friends is a place to meet new and old friends! If you’re coming solo, don’t fear: just about everyone comes alone to meet new friends. Dinner is served family-style at a shared table in your host’s home and includes paired drinks, appetizer, main course, and dessert - plus great company & conversations!

Each dinner is purposefully kept small to maintain an intimate and welcoming experience.

The Experience

Dinner with Friends was founded on the idea that food is best when it’s shared and paired with great people & conversation. The cuisine is only part of the Dinner with Friends experience. Expect to enjoy interesting conversations with strangers turned friends over the course of the evening!

We welcome anyone who is open-minded, respectful, and excited to be here.

The Cuisine

We are not professional chefs! We are passionate amateurs who are excited to try new cooking techniques, interesting flavors, and delicious foods from around the world. See our previous menus here!

Each menu is thoughtfully curated by your host, reflecting their unique background and heritage. Due to this, we’ll do our best to accommodate your dietary restrictions & allergies, but menus are fixed and substitutions are politely declined.

 FAQs

  • As much as we’d love to have everyone join us, we simply do not have enough seats at our table to accommodate everyone. Due to this overwhelming demand, we use a first come, first serve system. Here’s how it works:

    1) Fill out the Ticket Request Form, where we’ll ask some questions to get to know you.

    2) Once you’re on the list, you’ll receive an email from us around the first week of the month with all events for the month ahead with a link and password to purchase a ticket.

Please note that ticket purchases are first come, first serve and will likely sell out quickly due to extreme demand. As a reminder, tickets are sold in a single quantity and are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Be sure to follow us on Instagram to be the first to know about upcoming events!

  • Each menu is intensely personal and reflects the people we’ve met and the places we’ve been. We often draw from travels around the world and delicious meals right here in New York.

Menus reflect your host’s heritage, background, and favorite foods. For example, Anita’s menus tend to lean French/Chinese, an homage to her heritage and background growing up in her grandparents’ Chinese restaurant and parents’ fine dining bistro.

We’re always looking for menu inspiration, so please share anything you’d like to see with us! See our prior menus here.

  • Each menu is released in advance of the ticket lottery with dietary information, including common allergies and diets that can be acommodated. Your host carefully crafts their menus to reflect their culture, heritage, and cooking styles.

Please carefully read the menu before purchasing a ticket. Modifications to the menu are politely declined.

  • The average age of guests is around 22-35, but we have guests of all ages attend! We welcome anyone who is open-minded, respectful, and excited to be here to join.

Almost all guests come solo to meet new faces from around NYC and the world.

  • As we continue to grow the Dinner with Friends community, we’re looking for people who are passionate about community and food to join us as our first round of hosts! Check out the host application here.

  • We do private events on a case-by-case basis. Please go to our contact form to submit an inquiry - let’s make something extraordinary!

  • All dinners are hosted in your host’s home and are located around NYC. The dinner address and additional details are shared the day before your event via your provided email.

  • Stay tuned!
